As Chair of the PTFA and mother of two children at Ilsham Academy, I would like to welcome you to the school and whether you are new or already have children at Ilsham Academy, I would like to explain a little about our Parent Teacher and Friends Association (PTFA)
All our fundraising activities directly benefit our children. Throughout the year the PTFA support the school at various activities such as Sports Day providing fruit, water for the children and refreshments for parents. We run book fairs, are involved with the induction of new pupils and arrange social events plus a gift for the Year 6 leavers. Some of our fundraising events include the school disco, the Easter Tea, Summer and Christmas Fair, cake sales, Bags to School and much more.
This year we have managed to fully fund an after-school gardening club for two terms. At Christmas all the children will be able to choose a special present on ‘Gift Day’ for a loved one courtesy of the PTFA. On party day will be providing an entertainer and crackers for the children to try and help them celebrate the festive season.
The PTFA is key in enhancing the social aspect within Ilsham Academy bringing together the staff, pupils and parents.
You don’t have to become a committee member to become involved and make a contribution. We welcome any help you can offer at any time, baking (or donating) cakes, helping out at the Summer and Christmas Fairs or serving teas and coffees at an event. We always welcome new ideas and suggestions. Meetings are notified via parent texts and we have a suggestion box in reception. We have meetings at school from time to time and you are always welcome to come along.
I am always happy to speak to anyone regarding the PTFA. If you cannot locate me in the playground you can contact me via the office.
